Matthew J. Haddad

Matt became a part of Dakota in July 2020, where he specializes in the company’s investment policy and portfolio management.

He dedicated most of his professional journey to Cascade Asset Management Company, the investment office managing the personal wealth of Bill Gates as well as the assets of The Bill Gates Foundation Trust, overseeing over $100 billion in total. Matt started his career at BMGI in the Operations and Performance teams before transitioning to the Trading Desk, where he handled the firm’s public equity, money market, currency, and related derivatives trading. He subsequently joined the Equity Research team, reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, where he evaluated new investment ideas and analyzed existing holdings.

Seeking to lead an investment team, Matt departed BMGI after 11 years to join Willingdon Wealth Management in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. He managed Willingdon’s U.S. and International equity strategies for more than two years until the firm was acquired in 2020. During his tenure at Willingdon, Matt connected with Dakota and pursued the opportunity to establish a partnership following Willingdon’s sale.

Matt holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute and earned a BA in Economics from Middlebury College.

He resides in nearby Davidson, NC, with his wife, Ariel, and their son, Hani.
